“Dreamwalking” is a digital art project that combines storytelling and art therapy. In the narrative, the protagonist Dansha wields a mysterious “arcane essence” that guides people out of inner turmoil to find peace. Utilizing Unreal Engine’s real-time rendering technology, the project creates an immersive virtual digital space. This space, dominated by calming green and blue tones, feels like being in the vast starry sky, providing a serene and refreshing experience.

In the fast-paced modern life, young people face immense pressure and an increasing need for mental solace. With the rise of ACG (Anime, Comic, and Games) culture, their pursuit of individuality and fantasy has intensified. Digital art, as an emerging art form, is gradually being accepted and applied in the field of psychological therapy. The “Dreamwalking” project was born to meet this market demand, providing a unique digital art therapy space for young people.

The target audience is young people who pursue individuality and love ACG culture. Living in an era of information explosion and rapid pace, they face immense psychological pressure and life uncertainties. The “Dreamwalking” project aims to fulfill their fantasies about the future world and their need for mental solace.

Using Unreal Engine’s real-time rendering technology, “Dreamwalking” creates a highly interactive digital art space. The flexibility of 3D digital assets allows for customized design according to different offline venues, whether small galleries or large exhibition centers, providing a high-quality visual feast and immersive experience.

Offline Exhibitions: Through digital immersive exhibitions, combined with CAVE, 3D naked-eye, and VR technology, it creates an immersive art experience for the audience. Online Videos: Utilizing short and long videos, the story and art therapy concept of “Dreamwalking” are widely disseminated. Through social media and video platforms, it attracts more young people to pay attention and participate in the project.

“Dreamwalking” is a continuously evolving project. We plan to continuously improve the story setting, enrich the IP forms, and explore more forms of integration with online and offline spaces to achieve the project’s long-term sustainable development. By guiding mindfulness in a cross-dimensional form, it aims to provide young people with a unique art therapy experience. Additionally, we actively seek cooperation with brands and artists to jointly hold exhibitions and events. We believe that through these collaborations, “Dreamwalking” can not only enrich the audience’s experience and attract more attention but also provide valuable brand display opportunities for partners, achieving a win-win situation.

The brand requested the creative integration of the Lenovo Legion’s ‘Y’ element at the beginning of the short film. I designed a magical incantation starting with ‘Y’, named Yara, and used it as the cover element for a spellbook. I created a special floral typography animation effect, which, combined with the loop animation, weaves the brand element throughout the film.
品牌方要求在短片开头以创意形式植入联想拯救者系列标志“Y”元素,我以此设计了以Y开头的魔法咒语Yara,并以此为魔法书元素封面,为之设计了特殊的花字浮现动态效果,结合循环动画使得品牌元素贯穿短片始终。
The brand side requires designing a 3D stereoscopic vision video for the 6.5-inch AMOLED curved screen carried by its PANORAMA exhibition water-cooled radiator. I created a 10-second loop animation of Dan Sha's reading scene. With a cool green color scheme and a natural breeze effect, it creates a unique and artistic sense of accompanying and healing for users.

Because I am interested in the realization technology of offline immersive experience, I have recently participated in some competition activities. On the one hand, I try hard to skillfully integrate personal IP with brand needs. On the other hand, I conduct in-depth investigations and learn backstage technologies according to the activity requirements. After unremitting efforts, I have finally successfully mastered the nDisplay technology of Unreal Engine. This technology has opened up more possibilities for future application scenarios. Whether it is a large-scale performance, virtual reality experience, educational software or interactive display, the presentation of "Dreamwalker" can bring a more shocking and immersive experience.

"Arcane Essence" is the embodiment of Dan Sha's spiritual guidance energy. This energy has been synergized with immersive CAVE technology to create an extensive immersive video.Additionally, a 30-second dance video was crafted to captivate a broader audience.
To enhance the animation, I delved into character animation production with Cascadeur and Maya. While there is room for technical improvement, significant progress has been made. I am confident in making Dan Sha's spellcasting movements more fluid. My proficiency with the Niagara system and the application of Maya's cloth system has also grown, enabling the design of a plethora of intriguing magical effects.
The recent surge in popularity of Dan Sha among the youth has been incredibly inspiring.
"灵意"是丹砂心灵引导能量的体现。我将之与沉浸式CAVE技术相结合,创作了一部沉浸式长视频。此外,我还制作了一段30秒的舞蹈短视频,以吸引更广泛的观众。

Initially, due to a lack of familiarity with the fabric system, the preliminary design was not achieved. This time, I utilized both Unreal Engine's built-in cloth simulation system (to meet basic motion requirements) and Maya's nCloth system. I focused on integrating Style3D with Unreal Engine (unfortunately, as a non-corporate user, I couldn't perform real-time simulations) and explored multi-layer cloth practice methods with Maya nCloth. Although there are still minor issues, I have essentially realized the original design concept.
由于之前对布料系统不够熟悉,未能达到初步设计效果。这次我同时运用了虚幻引擎内置的布料模拟系统(满足基本动作需求)和Maya的nCloth系统。我专注于学习Style3D与虚幻引擎的整合(遗憾的是,作为非企业用户,我无法进行实时模拟),并探索了Maya nCloth的多层布料实践方法。尽管仍存在一些小问题,但我已基本实现了最初的设计构想。

This is a summary of my self-taught character animation modeling practice for one quarter. I tried to integrate 3D characters with illustration backgrounds and create natural illustration-like real-time rendering effects using Unreal Engine. Due to my lack of experience, there are still many imperfections, but I will continue to study and publish more works in the same series.
这是我自学角色动画模型一个季度的练习成果,我尝试将3D角色与插画背景融合使用,通过虚幻引擎创造自然的插画感实时渲染效果。因为经验不足所以目前还存在很多不太完善的地方,但我会继续研究并发布更多同系列作品。
